What is Porokeratosis?

A porokeratosis is a small, round, skin lesion on the plantar (bottom) aspect of the foot. This lesion may have a small callous or white dot. Usually it is painful with direct pressure. The porokeratosis is not usually develop due to bone pressure. Some theories identified the reason for the development as being due to obstructed glandular ducts.

 

How to treat Porokeratosis?

Podiatric Care usually includes debridement of these lesions from the skin surface. This is usually very superficial and does not bleed or cause pain. There are many similar looking lesions that need to be differentiated by a physician. Please consult your podiatrist.
